Think 'Hippie' Thoughts

The words on this silk say,"World peace, Sustainability, Spirituality, Transformation, Community, Organic Living, Consciousness, Expression, Compassion, Mind Expansion, Acceptance, Exploration, Appreciation, Music, Poetry, Love,  But  Act Normal." Across the middle it says, "Appreciation, Acceptance, and Flower Power", I think. 11x60, haboti, French dyes, $100.00

See the Sea Horses

I am finally posting a few new silks.  As you know I love the sea and its critters and these are fantasy sea horses. 11x60 haboti silk  $100.00

Yellow Roses and Green Puzzle

11 x 60" Haboti silk scarves. The yellow rose silk is not for sale. I left out a word in the border. Boo hoo. (That is rare for this calligrapher). But if you like it, I could make another one. The bottom one has puzzle designs and the word friendship and friendship quotes around it. The puzzle pieces represent each friend and how they fit into my life. Thank you, friends. Both are original designs with French dyes. $100.00

Butterfly Fish and Coral

My goal in painting this 35x35" haboti silk was to use very little resist. This is a close up and the only resist is on the fish, otherwise I used slightly thickened French dyes. I hang this silk on a cafe curtain rod with the little clips. That way it moves in a breeze and seems very fluid. All original art and design. $150.00

Flame Dragon

Flame Dragon is a 35x35" haboti silk which I have framed in a large plexiglass frame, but the silk can be taken out and worn or hung freely. This guy really lights up the room, and is a friendly dragon,  despite the flames. French dyes and gold resist were used. I love this fella, but he can go to a loving home. This design is free-hand drawn and designed by Jill. $300 unframed.

More Fantasy Flowers

A new flower silk was called for.  I love looking at real flowers, but then playing with their dominate feature and making them come to life. This is haboti silk, 11 x 60", original design, painted with French dyes, and can be worn in any season. The camera put darker shadows into the photos; nothing is dark in this silk painting. $125.00

Leaves as Pretty as Flowers

Play is the title of this silk, even though it features fall leaves. I gave myself permission to play. This haboti silk from China is 8x72" designed by me and painted with French dyes. The border features quotes about play, and gold resist draws each leaf. The color inside each 'window' is resist free. This silk is very pretty to hang on the wall or wear or both. $125.00

The Universe

This 11 x 60 crepe de chine silk scarf was inspired by an ad I saw for a National Geographic book on photos from the Hubble telescope. I used French dyes, very little resist, and the words around the border speak about space and the Universe. $110.00

The Bugs Feel the Shaking . . .Poem

Another silk I painted when I was taking a class and studying Irene Wellington. She combined her calligraphy with illustrations and I took this to the next level, by doing my work on a silk. This is a poem about bugs feeling the earth quake when people walk by. $125.00

Snail Story

Taking a class with Renee Jorgensen and learning about the calligraphy of Irene Wellington, I decided to do my calligraphy and illustrations on silk. This is a little story about snails, and their slime. I put the poem into the lines of slime. 11 x 60" I am also proud of the leafy background which is accomplished with no resist. $125.00

Perception

The word Perception is written through the middle three times. From there I built the rest of the design. Around the edges I have comments about how we perceive life. I am using a copper metallic resist. 11x60" $90.00

Tangle Fun

I had an earlier version of this complicated, detailed silk on my Jill's Quills 2014 calendar and wanted to make another because someone was excited by the design. I barely had it finished and it was sold. Wow.

Tranquillity

I started this silk with the word Tranquillity written largely down the middle. Around the border I added some philosophy about how to achieve tranquillity and added the cartoon flowers. This silk is very springy, yet goes with any blues or purples. $80.00

BIG Tangles

Fun, springy colors with tangles that are larger. I love the color combinations. SOLD

Sea Dragon in Coral

Yes, another Sea Dragon. This is an experiment with a 'watery look' and the coral is made with thickened dyes and then outlined loosely with NeoOpaque (which isn't shown). $80.00

Bacon Silk (joke)

At Christmas, my family was here and my grandson saw a silk on the stretcher.  I had just painted a background that, to me, looked like a sunset.  He saw a very large piece of bacon.  After he said that that is all I could see too.  So I added some quills, the alphabet, and finally a dark red on top with salt.
It now can be worn with my new red jacket.  11x60" Sold.

Nature Colors with ABC's

Yet again, I am playing with thickened dyes and just swishing the colors on with a sponge.  After the silk is steamed I added the lettering with a gold resist.   8 x 72" Sold.

Love Bugs

Another fun silk scarf.  This silks has little love bugs in a few spots, lots of other 'spots', and in general is bright and colorful.  As usual I have lettering around the border.  8 x 72"  $l00.00
