Peanut, Butter, & Jelly (Fish)

Another Wild Paste Paper

8 x 72"  I learned a lesson here.  One cannot put the resist on top of the thickened dyes.  If you do, after steaming, it just falls off like spaghetti.  The resist was applied after steaming, then it stayed put.  Sold.

Flowers in Triangles

12 x 60"  This painting just grew and sold itself in about a week.  The interesting challenge I had with this silk is that the dye kept drying too fast before I got all the way around each triangle.  I had to finally wet the area with water first to avoid a 'dry' line.

Hummingbird & Feathers

12 x 60" Hummingbirds at each end with feathers in the middle.  This silk really zings. SOLD

Paste Paper Scape

One of my first paste paper style silks.  It has spots of gold resist.  Sold.

Paste Dragon from Class

My silk teacher is trying to get my to loosen up.  This was an assignment in class.  I used thickened dyes to draw the dragon and fill her in.  After steaming the dragon, I added some gold resist to lighten up the dark lines.  She is a nice dragon!  12 x 60" SOLD

Fall Colored Curly Cues

May the Earth Always Speak to Your Spirit

The title is written down the middle of this 8 x 72" silk.  That gave me a pattern to build into the design.  The border is a stretch alphabet.  I used leaves and colors from nature.  Sold

Whimsy Woodlands

12 x 60"  This started off as a tangle drawing, but then flowers, woodsy plants and critters also snuck into the drawings.  I have this in a gallery in Boulder, Co right now for May/June 2013. Sold

Simply Color

My friend asked for a silk with no lines or drawing on it.  So I played with this one.  After steaming there was a permanent water spot on it, so I made some little hearts in that area and the silk is finished.  It is fun to wear this one.  SOLD

Go, Ladybugs, Go!

This is the last silk I painted before the big move to the Denver area.  In the photo it is not steamed yet.  I was using up the dyes I thought I couldn't move and just made a spotty pattern for the background.  That looked really unprofessional, so I washed it out, unsteamed.  Lots of the dye stayed in the silk, so it was time to get creative.  I started adding ladybugs, and here it is.  12 x 60"  Sold

Flowers in the Dark

This was painted as I was packing up to move to the Denver area.  I was trying to use up the dyes that were in the little containers that I thought would not move.  (They did, and not one spill.)  Anyway, I like the other silk I did with the dark background and just took off with that idea.  It is a fun silk.

More Silk Tangles

The tangle world of abstract doodling is just magic with silks.  I do have writing as the border.  The words are always meaningful and philosophical.  The resist is silver with a dark blue border.  Doesn't this just make you want to go to your wardrobe and find something to wear with it.  12 x 60"  Sold

Conference Silk

This silk was made in Santa Fe at the SPIN conference.  The class I took was about using no resists.  I do have it framed, thus the reflections.  It is very soft and glowing.  I was very pleased with the total effect, but will use different dyes next time.  The painting is already sold.  

SW Desert long silk

This silk is in a display case at an art show.  It also won an honorable mention prize.  I was inspired by the scenery around Santa Fe where I attended my first SPIN (Silk Painters International) conference in July, 2012.  12 x 60" Sold
